The inaugural workshop of the CCProM project took place in Barcelona from May 15 to 17, 2024, bringing together project partners and a wider circle of cultural professionals from France and Catalonia. The meeting aimed to initiate a shared reflection on the current landscape of cultural cooperation training in Europe and to begin co-designing the CCProM training module. The session featured key contributions from experts including Mercedes Giovinazzo (Interarts) and Avril Joffe (via Zoom), who provided insights on the state of cultural management education across Europe. This presentation sparked a fruitful exchange among participants on current needs and gaps in training for cultural cooperation.

Interactive group work and pedagogical design sessions were central to the workshop. Under the guidance of invited education specialists, participants explored possible formats, tools, and resources for the training module, considering both practical limitations and didactic potential. Cultural management students also presented their own educational tools and prototypes, enriching the collaborative process. The workshop closed with a partners’ meeting, during which the team outlined the next steps, emphasizing the need to define accessible, engaging, and sustainable learning tools—such as table games and structured guidelines for study visits.

Overall, the Barcelona session successfully laid the foundations for developing a relevant, dynamic, and collaborative training module on cultural cooperation project management.
